Melbourne Candid Series 978 Swanston St

He was once a familiar figure, but since the onset of COVID, he has not been seen. Not homeless, he was renowned among Melbourne's city photographers—a retired academic possessing several properties. Yet, he chose to live without a roof, embracing the outdoors as his dwelling.

His absence now evokes contemplation about the profound impacts of the pandemic on individual lives. Electing to forgo traditional comforts despite ample means suggests a quest for freedom or a deeper connection with the world unconfined by walls.

  3. Fine portrait of an elderly man who is certainly a character. If he has not been seen recently, something bad might have happened to him. I hope he is alright.

  6. A veces las personas no elegimos el mejor camino y si encima hay desgracias mundiales como el COVID19, esto agranda aún mas la desafección social. Al menos tu lograste inmortalizarle en una bella fotografía.

  8. Wow, wonderful photo. He looks like a real Santa with that beard and hair. I wonder what happened to him? I hope he's safe and didn't get sick during Covid. He looks quite old so maybe he's no longer with us? Too bad no one knows what happened to him.

  14. Isn't that interesting, a man who had the means and yet material possessions were not thought of. I hope he is enjoying his life still. A splendid photo of the gentleman.
