Off Bourke Street’s curve in silver light,
A man on wheels begins his flight
Helmeted, silent, e-bike hum,
A shadow in the city’s thrum.
Behind, beneath a brooding sky,
A woman dressed in black walks by.
Her hat, a moon of quiet grace,
No rush, no fear upon her face.
She holds a hand, a boy’s small frame,
His steps unsure, yet not the same
For anchored firm in her still pace,
He walks the world with gentle grace.
Monochrome moments, soft and wide,
Lives in motion, paths that glide.
No words exchanged, yet somehow known
Each stranger walking not alone.

DeleteVery beautifully written, it conveys a distinctive atmosphere. Delicate poetic imagery—I like how the scene unfolds. Verses that create a sense of calm and introspection. It has something cinematic, as if I’m seeing everything in black and white. The moonlit hat won me over completely. The urban e-biker and the mysterious lady — the perfect beginning to a novel.

DeleteWhat a stylish mother and child in your photo. She looks like a cover model for a magazine. Those electric bicycles can be dangerous on a crowded sidewalk. Hope he is careful. You caught great action here.
ReplyDeleteRiding a bike on the sidewalk? Bad form! And dangerous to pedestrians.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful I especially love the last stanza. The picture and poem are each other's mirror
