The
afternoon dissolves in shade,
Beneath the arbor's slatted beam,
Where daily cares begin to fade
Into a quiet, waking dream.
A moment
paused, the head leaned back,
To watch the shifting light above,
While voices fade along the track,
And gentle currents softly move.
The world
goes on with glass and conversation,
But here, a solitary peace is found
A brief and sudden, still cessation,
While summer leaves drift to the ground.
