Melbourne Candid Series #1049 Little Bourke St

Down Little Bourke, mid city’s hum,
A man walks on, his fingers numb.
His hairline fades with time’s embrace,
Yet focus lights his solemn face.

Eyes fixed upon the glowing screen,
Unmoved by all the urban scene,
He drifts through crowds in silent zone,
A world away, yet not alone.

  1. Your photo caught this man deeply focused on his phone while walking down the street, never a good idea. I hope he does not come to harm due to his lack of attention to his environment.

  2. Excellent timing!
The man is doing what thousands of people do while walking down the street: checking his phone.

  10. Your words and image capture such a powerful moment — the quiet isolation that can exist even in the middle of a busy city. I love how the poem mirrors the photo so well, highlighting the contrast between the bustling surroundings and the man's inward focus. Beautifully observed and beautifully written!

  11. Yesss... soon, apps need to be invented to guide smartphone users on where to go and notify them of any obstacles. ☺

  15. Hello Roentare :)
If he doesn't look where he is going, he might stumble and fall due to his concentration on his phone,
