Melbourne Candid Series #1051 Swanston St

A young chap strides with a rhythm bold,
Curly hair wild, like stories untold.
Down Swanston Street where the city hums,
He walks to the beat of invisible drums.

Large earphones wrap his head in sound,
A private concert as feet meet ground.
Dock pants swish with a casual flair,
Swagger of youth, breeze in the air.

The trams roll by, the pigeons flee,
But he's lost in a world only he can see.
Basslines bounce through his steady pace,
A grin half-formed on his traveler's face.

Melbourne moves with its usual din,
But he’s wrapped in music, deep within.
Not chasing time, just catching a vibe,
A living pulse in the city's tribe.

  1. He does not look like he approves of what he is hearing or seeing, and oblivious to the scene around him including the cute girl right behind him. Your photo caught one way to disconnect from crowded urban life.

  2. That's really a great street view of Melbourne's daily life, due to the fact that the whole frame shows people coming and going.

  4. Magnificent image, with the boy concentrating on the music and the girl in her thoughts!

  5. Se aisla con su música de todo lo que sucede a su alrededor. No sabemos a donde viajarán sus pensamientos mientras escucha la música de su predilección.

  6. Wonder what he's listening to. Not often I see young ones with headphones on like that, most of them use ear buds.

  11. The young man is oblivious to the people around him. Your poem describes what is going on very well. All those people are thinking about something, but he listens only to the music.
