In Hosier Lane where shadows dwell,
And cobbled streets their secrets tell,
A man and woman paused their stride
To gaze into the sky wide-eyed.
Graffiti flared on every wall,
Yet they saw past the painted sprawl—
Not colours bold or rebel scrawl,
But something vast beyond it all.
Their heads were tilted, side by side,
Their breath a mist the cold supplied.
In black and white the moment stayed,
Two figures caught in light and shade.
What did they seek above the stone?
A passing bird, a world unknown?
The clouds perhaps, or trailing plane,
Or simply wonder, pure, unfeigned.
No words were said, no need to speak,
The silent sky was wide and bleak.
But in that hush, as time slipped by,
They touched the edge of winter’s sky.

ReplyDeleteYup, the street scene special
Delete...Debra, beat me!

DeleteGreat black and white streetview of such characteristic alley and its murals and cobblestones.
ReplyDeleteYour lovely poem explains they both were watching the sky in a relaxed way. It seems her clothes are not typical of winter.
Someone peed in the background
DeleteNice
ReplyDeleteExcellent B&W. While the man seems stunned by so much graffiti, she takes it with more humor and seems to be talking over the phone about what she's seeing.
ReplyDeleteThis lane is stunk of urine
DeleteGreat photo. I like the street they are on.
ReplyDeleteHomeless lingers there
DeleteEsa chica sonrie bastante mientras mira hacia la altura. Algo debió de llamarle la atención.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana.
Not sure. Sometimes people just love to stare into distance
DeleteThese characters look like they are actors in a play doing a scene for your benefit. Love the mural background, perfect in b&w.

DeletePersonas con diversos atuendos llenan el encuadre en el que una mujer habla por el móvil mientras el que parece su acompañante mira para otro lado. Buen monocromo.
