On Collins Street they walked as two,
Beneath the sky of cloud and blue.
Their steps were slow, their silence deep,
As though they bore a care they’d keep.
The husband wore his dark disguise,
His sunglasses veiling thoughtful eyes.
While on her head, in morning glare,
Her shades lay tangled in her hair.
Together yet each mind alone,
They wandered through the heart of stone—
In Melbourne's light, their shadows cast,
By present fears and echoes past.

Perhaps this couple was just enjoying a walk, or maybe he is keeping her company while she shops? They look devoted to each other.

ReplyDeleteThere’s a gentle melancholy here that lingers. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteReads like a scene from a quiet film – subtle and evocative.
Surely he has something urgent to do.
ReplyDeleteHer face speaks volumes, and I feel something difficult is on her mind. It's in her eyes. Exceptional shot, Roentare! Couples who have been together don't always have to talk. There is a shared comfort and familiarity in living together for decades. So simple, but so evocative: "They wandered through the heart of stone."
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't look too happy at something!
