Velvet seats and lanterned glow,
soft jade light where whispers flow.
Three men seated, calm, apart,
each with a meal, a private art.
Porcelain gleams beneath warm steam,
ginger and wine in a fragrant dream.
No words exchanged, yet all are near,
bound by the comfort of taste and cheer.
Outside, the river hums through glass,
time drifts slow, like clouds that pass.
Chopsticks pause — a fleeting grace,
three stories shared in a silent space.

ReplyDeleteVery well-controlled light, as well as the framing that allows the entire space to be seen.
I am not sure of the food in this elegant place. None of these three men have any food in front of them. The guy in the center has an empty bowl and empty pitcher, so perhaps he had something? The are all trying hard to ignore each other.
