Two lady performers,
floral loops crowning their hair
like dawn-warmed garlands,
let the last notes of their music
settle into the soft lawns
of Flagstaff Garden.
They lean toward their support staff,
quiet laughter blooming
between them like late-spring petals,
their words drifting in the air
where melodies once lived.
The garden listens
trees tilting in approval,
pigeons pausing mid-step
as the performers, unmasked from the stage,
become simply two friends
gathering themselves
after giving their hearts to the day.

The final touches before the performance!
ReplyDeleteIt dragged on for a long time
DeleteHope he's listening to her directions.
ReplyDeleteNo... She was frustrated lol
DeleteParece que el concierto va a comenzar y hay que poner todo en su lugar y lograr que los instrumentos y las voces suenen adecuadamente
ReplyDeleteAbrazo
Exactly that. The show was delayed for 40 minutes already
DeleteBehind the scenes!
ReplyDeleteI should not stand there actually
DeleteThe woman on the right is giving him directions, and he is listening carefully. That pointed finger is making her point, but there is not telling about the other performer's conversation.
ReplyDeleteShe is indeed bossy
DeleteWhere are the garden, trees and pigeons?
ReplyDeleteWatching performers setting up and preparing is not for human eyes.
ReplyDeleteFine candid - as usual :)
ReplyDeleteThe stage is set for them. Great photo of the two women at work just before the show.
ReplyDeleteI love to listen to street performers, and I wish I could have heard these. I loved your words: "their words drifting in the air where melodies once lived."
