A young man,
jeans faded like long-travelled roads,
walks with his back to my lens
a silhouette etched in motion.
A wide Mexican hat crowns him,
its brim a small horizon
carrying stories he may not yet know.
He passes beneath the arching sign
of Melbourne’s Mexican Festival,
colours fluttering like paper prayers,
music drifting warm as spice.
In that instant
hat, jeans, stride
he becomes a quiet emblem
of crossing into celebration,
a wanderer stepping
from the ordinary
into a world painted bright
with culture, laughter,
and the promise of belonging.

That's a great sun hat!
ReplyDeleteThat was the main reason I took a shot
DeleteLooks like fun, I've never been to a mexican event.
ReplyDeleteIt happens every year here
DeleteGotta love the hat.
ReplyDeleteI would love to source a hat like that
DeleteI amb el gest de la mà, sembla com si volgués assegurar-se que no ha perdut el mòbil o la cartera.
ReplyDeleteSalutacions!
Probably lost his mobile phone
DeleteGood
ReplyDeleteExcellent image with the protagonist wearing what he believes is a Mexican hat!
ReplyDeleteThe villain has arrived
DeleteYou managed to capture the atmosphere so poetically that, as I read, I feel the joy and color of the festival.
ReplyDeleteI find coloured version another vibe
DeleteThat fellow has a serious sun hat to keep from getting a sunburn. I like the signs on the fence. Nothing like a festival to have some fun.
ReplyDeleteYou always marry the photograph with your poem. Well done as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ☺
...quite a hat.
ReplyDeleteUn buen momento para la fiesta, la diversión y para dejarse ir
ReplyDeleteAbrazo
Just realized that he has lost his wallet??
ReplyDeleteLoved the pic and your words.
ReplyDeleteI want to step in too! I love the Mexican culture!
ReplyDeleteGood shot!
