Melbourne Candid Series #1278 Swanston St

Sun slices Swanston into shade and glare,
Half the crowd in light, half unaware.

One negotiates life through a glowing screen,
One hauls retail trophies, seventeen.

Behind them commerce, ahead unknown
The city scrolls; they carry on.

  1. Cell phones are an addiction. The two lads on the right have cell phones and one is talking on it. The Mother behind them is looking at her cell phone. Phones dominate many people's attention.

  2. A great candid moment. The contrast of light and shadow on Swanston Street really sets the mood, and the short poem captures the rhythm of city life perfectly. Scenes like this show how many different stories pass through the same street at the same time.

  3. Judging by the expressions, it looks like a street with a steep slope.

  5. Com si hi hagués un senyal imaginari que els fa anar a la dreta o a l'esquerra en funció de si van o venen.
    Salutacions.

  9. I suppose it's better that he's actually talking to someone, rather than texting-- staring at the screen. Screen zombie apocolypse!
