Under The Optical Co. sign’s gaze,
he walks in uncompromising rays
half in shadow, half in sun,
as if the day’s not quite begun.
“Now Open,” the sandwich board cries,
while traffic hums and daylight fries;
he carries nothing but a stare
that says, I’ve seen enough—don’t care.
Backpack slung, expression stoic,
urban, unsmiling, mildly heroic
a lone straight line through city sprawl,
ignoring every sale and call.
