Melbourne Candid Series #1303 Collins st arcade

A chessboard floor, but no one plays fair
pawns in prams roll through patterned air.
Polka dots march with a startled stare,
while fairy lights gossip from everywhere.

A child rides high on a father’s crown,
a queen in black glides the stroller down,
and time, in monochrome, slows the town
mid-step, mid-thought, mid up-and-down.

  2. I hate those big baby carriages. People use them to clear a path like they're battering rams or something.

  3. The woman in polka dots looks like she is leading a parade, or is in the front row of a group of dancers.

  6. The woman in black with white polkadots, along with the stout woman to HER right, are have a shocked, unbelieving look. They are not together, but they are looking at the same thing, and appear to be dumbfounded.

  12. Love this, Roentare, especially the white on black outfit echoing the white lights on the black background. A serendipitous shot!
