A crossing of strangers,
each starring alone
a thousand small dramas
on concrete and phone.
The lights haven’t spoken,
yet everyone moves,
in practiced impatience
and well-worn grooves.
One checks her heartbeat,
one checks the time,
one strides like a headline
mid-sentence, mid-rhyme.
Green is a rumor,
red merely a guess
the city keeps walking,
and calls it progress.

You found a great deal of action on this sidewalk. Many young people all going somewhere and achieving their goals.
