Beneath the bargain signs and sweet displays,
The footpath hums in monochrome days.
A man leans in with parcels to claim,
While life walks past, never the same.
Chocolate promises hang overhead,
Yet most just carry their thoughts instead.
Two stroll by with a steady beat
Love, or errands, down this street.
And somewhere between the sale and the sigh,
The city keeps walking… not asking why.

ReplyDeleteI like how this captures the feeling of a city street without trying to make it overly dramatic. Just ordinary people moving through ordinary moments, yet somehow it still feels poetic and alive.
ReplyDeleteI immediately spotted that chocolate sign! 😂. The couple doesn't look particularly happy. Maybe they're tired from shopping. They should have stopped for a little chocolate!
