Two fathers marched through polished glass,
A toddler rode her wheeled first-class.
The city strutted, sharp and fast,
All chrome reflections built to last.
Beside the shopfront’s mirrored gleam,
A man slept underneath the dream.
One child reclined in cushioned shade,
One life lay folded, frayed and frayed.
Melbourne hurried, black and white
Progress pushing through the light.
And somewhere in that passing stream,
Humanity paused… then missed the scene.

For some reason this photo and your poem brought up emotions and I'm holding back tears. I think maybe because you captured an image that is so true to life. It's excellent.

ReplyDeleteLots going on in your photo today. The two fellows with the baby look like normal dads, but the young man sleeping on his possessions is a sad case as he looks homeless. You also have a great reflection in that window with other people on the street. Fine work.
