Two fathers marched through polished glass,
A toddler rode her wheeled first-class.
The city strutted, sharp and fast,
All chrome reflections built to last.
Beside the shopfront’s mirrored gleam,
A man slept underneath the dream.
One child reclined in cushioned shade,
One life lay folded, frayed and frayed.
Melbourne hurried, black and white
Progress pushing through the light.
And somewhere in that passing stream,
Humanity paused… then missed the scene.

For some reason this photo and your poem brought up emotions and I'm holding back tears. I think maybe because you captured an image that is so true to life. It's excellent.
ReplyDeleteSuch contrasting realities.
ReplyDeleteIn big cities, more and more people are sleeping on the streets.
ReplyDeletePoverty knows no borders.
...progressive and regressive!
ReplyDeleteTothom passa sense mirar...
ReplyDeleteM'encanten els reflexos.
Salutacions.
Such a sad situation and one that is becoming all too familiar.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of homeless in Los Angeles and San Francisco, but not in Melburne.

ReplyDeleteMagníficos reflejos de ese esquinazo.
ReplyDeleteLots going on in your photo today. The two fellows with the baby look like normal dads, but the young man sleeping on his possessions is a sad case as he looks homeless. You also have a great reflection in that window with other people on the street. Fine work.
ReplyDeleteUna imagen que vemos en nuestras ciudades a diario
ReplyDeleteThey must like looking like twins! And it seems to work very well!
ReplyDeleteGreat captured
ReplyDeleteMy 'nice' comment was meant for your way with words but it is not a 'nice' photo, sorry. I feel sorry for the homeless.
ReplyDeleteDifferent lives eh!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to the homeless person! Life can be so cruel. Lucky baby to have two caring fathers. Wonderful capture!
ReplyDeletePoor and Not poor contrast... wow, what a scene.
