Sydney Candid Series #1475 Luna Park

Amidst the shadows of the night,
A silver ring of glowing light
Suspends a dancer in the air,
Who twists and turns without a care.

In patterned silk, they bend and sway,
And chase the heavy dark away,
While down below, a single beam
Illuminates a circus dream.

With graceful strength and quiet grace,
They hang inverted in this space,
A fleeting, breathless, striking sight
Before they vanish in the night.

The city breathes beneath the night,
Where iron tracks catch silver light.
A mother walks with hurried grace,
Shielding her child in this busy place.

The crowd drifts by like shifting smoke,
Wrapped tight against the evening cloak.
A quiet world within the rush,
Bound by a mother’s tender hush.

The narrow alley wears a quiet shade,
Where neon signs in foreign script look down;
A fleeting world where ancient arts are made,
Tucked deep within the corners of the town.

An old man stands before the window pane,
To watch the steam and simple flavors rise;
A quiet witness to a distant reign,
With thoughtful memories behind his eyes.

The modern city rushes fast outside,
Yet time stands still beside the kitchen stove;
Where simple traditions quietly abide,
To serve a taste of comfort and of love.

The spires rise from days of long ago,
Where faded laughter echoes through the night;
The ancient towers catch a ghostly glow,
Reflected in a ring of spinning light.

A masked performer stands upon the shore,
A silent phantom from a passing age;
To guard the joy that reigns here evermore,
Upon this dark and monochromatic stage.

The crowds of old have vanished in the shade,
Yet through the gloom, the timeless memories gleam;
Though years roll on and painted colors fade,
The silver hoop still spins a classic dream.

The carousel stands silent in the gloom,
Where wooden horses used to turn and stride;
The midnight shadows deep within the room,
Now guard the phantoms of a forgotten ride.

Yet through the dark, a glowing dancer springs,
Like some bright spirit from a vanished year;
She fills the silence with her shining wings,
And brings a moment of nostalgic cheer.

The gears are still, the painted music dies,
And youth has wandered from the park away;
But in the brilliant light of memory's eyes,
The fairground dances till the break of day.

Upon the stone where hurried shadows pass,
And twilight weaves its cold, Spring shroud,
The music rises clear above the mass
Of shifting shapes that form the restless crowd.

With practiced grace he strikes the silver wire,
Beneath the brim that shields his thoughtful gaze;
His lonely art ignites a transient fire
Amidst the gloom of city-wearied days.

The world rolls by on tracks of iron stride,
Unheeding of the beauty born and spent,
Yet truth and song in harmony abide,
To crown the night with quiet, calm content.

Behind the counter’s stainless sheen,
The busy hands move sharp and clean.
The steam ascends in silver lines,
Where hurried preparation twines.

The patrons gather, wait, and look,
To catch a glance of what they cook.
A quiet rush, a steady stride,
Of life that stirs and flows inside.

Across the pass, the dishes gleam,
Like modern clockwork in a dream.
While out beyond the kitchen wall,
The shadows shift and softly fall.

The tiled floor stretches down the hall,
Where heavy, modern shadows fall.
A patient queue begins to form,
Away from midday's rising warmth.

Each person waits within the line,
A quiet pause in structured time.
With weary steps and shifting feet,
They seek a cool, refreshing treat.

No words are shared, no voices rise,
Beneath the bright and sterile skies.
A simple scene of daily grace,
Within this crowded, narrow space.

Shadows stretch across the stone,
Where a traveler sits alone.
Underneath the vaulted beam,
Silent moments cast a dream.

Through the doorway, dim and deep,
Guarded secrets safely keep.
By the window, clear and bright,
Daily commerce meets the light.

Time stands frozen in the shade,
While the shifting patterns fade.
A fleeting pause, a quiet grace,
Captured in this solemn place.

Beneath the shade, the day grows still,
While quiet conversations flow;
The sun climbs softly o’er the hill,
And shadows lengthen down below.

A moment rests in summer’s light,
Unhurried, ordinary, free
And in that calm, a fleeting sight
Becomes a small eternity.

Beneath the bright and humming light,
The hungry gather, row by row;
Sweet pies gleam softly, tempting sight,
While human stories ebb and flow.

A moment caught in monochrome
The ordinary, made sublime;
Strangers meet, then wander home,
And leave their footprints there in time.

A quiet square beneath the urban height,
Where modern towers touch the fading light,
She sits alone upon the concrete stone,
Engrossed within the glowing of her phone.

The bustling world moves on in shadows cast,
A fleeting moment in a cityscape vast,
While silent thoughts inside her mind reside,
An island in the crowd's continuous tide.

The modern giants pierce the sky,
Where stone and iron strangely blend,
The ancient arches stand close by,
While newer spires still ascend.

A restless tide of passing feet,
Moves through the intersection's maze,
While cranes look down upon the street,
And capture the advancing days.

Though steel and glass reshape the view,
And change the world with heavy hand,
The old lives on within the new,
Upon this shifting, crowded land.
