Indeed, the realm of prize-winning street photography often seems dominated by themes of poverty or the horrors of war. This trend tends to overshadow genuine street photography, which frequently goes unappreciated. It is rather disheartening. I must acknowledge the need to seek out photographers in Melbourne who have a genuine passion for this genre.
Composition and subject still matter, and this one is good in both ways.
ReplyDeleteIt is in a peaceful country
Deletememories for me
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I decided not to publish street images where poverty was the protagonist. I think there is much more to be done on the streets without dwelling on the misfortunes of others. I leave the photos of misfortunes and wars to the photo-journalists who risk their lives every day.
ReplyDeleteI had a small collection of the poverty images as well. I feel bad posting them online

DeleteJust today, from my terrace, I saw a woman skating with her two small daughters on scooters along the seafront. She was doing it really well.
ReplyDeleteFor me, what you do in this space is pure street photography. War or denunciation photography, I think, is not street photography, it is more journalism.
That is interesting to hear. I like the genuine spirit in street snaps of people
DeleteStill a good way to get around quickly.

ReplyDeleteRoller skaters are rarely seen on the streets these days. More roller skiing here.
