Melbourne Candid Series #1159 Bourke St Mall

A young man stands where footsteps stream,
Bourke Street hums, a midday dream.
With fingers dancing, smooth and slow,
He plays the keys in steady flow.

A tattoo winds along his skin,
A tale inked deep, a song within.
He sings with soul, his voice laid bare,
The city pauses, caught mid-air.

Coins may fall, or glances stray,
Yet still he plays the day away—
One man, one sound, one fleeting spark,
A melody that lights the dark.

  1. Hello Roentare!
I haven't been here for a while. I admit I missed you because I really enjoy your street scenes. When I travel, I always support street musicians because what they do is great.
    Greetings from faraway Poland:)

  4. Seeing your photo, I can almost hear the music from this street band. I hope you enjoyed them.

  5. Good shot! That street musician must be a one-man band, since I also see a guitar at the ready.

  9. This is stunning—a vivid, lyrical snapshot of a street musician whose art transcends the mundane. The imagery of the tattoo as a "tale inked deep" mirrors the raw emotion in his voice, and the city pausing "mid-air" captures that magical suspension when music takes over. The contrast between indifference ("coins may fall, glances stray") and his unwavering passion ("still he plays the day away") is poignant. And the closing lines—"one fleeting spark / A melody that lights the dark"—elevate the moment into something timeless. Beautifully crafted! 🎶✨
