A man and his giant shadow of fur,
stride steady through the narrow street.
The dog’s paws echo like soft drums,
marking time against the city’s hum.
Bicycles lean,
cars gleam,
but it is the quiet bond between walker and beast
that bends the lane into rhythm.
People pass,
signs blur,
yet in this moment—
the city belongs to two companions,
carving their way through Melbourne’s breath.

DeleteOnce again people look like their dogs. Both of them look well fed.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteI don't like people who live with such big dogs in a flat. They don't love their dogs.
ReplyDeleteVery crammy in city
DeleteOh I like this photo so much. Very nice shot.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole!
DeleteThat photo really tells a story, for sure. And your thoughts are perceptive.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded that we met a man with his gorgeous big dog yesterday. No pics though. What is wrong with me? 😎
ReplyDeleteBig fella and big dog! Is he looking at the bike wondering if he should get one?
ReplyDeleteDicen que los perros se parecen a sus dueños.
ReplyDeleteYour words always match the picture. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt cracks me up how much people and their dogs come to look alike. I especially love these words: " yet in this moment—the city belongs to two companions, carving their way through Melbourne’s breath."
ReplyDeleteThat’s a big dog!
