Melbourne Candid Series #1268 Flagstaff Garden

A man stands in a field of soft, blurred voices,
sunlight falling on his bare arms,
on the crumpled tissue in his hand
a small pause in the middle of a busy day.

Beside him, a woman bends toward a child,
their movements quiet as petals settling.
The child leans forward,
hair slipping like a brushstroke
toward the open earth.

Around them, life goes on
figures drifting, talking,
fading into background haze
but here, in this small circle,
time slows to a gentle heartbeat.

A moment of care,
unremarkable to the world,
yet whole and complete in itself
a simple tenderness
held on a sunlit lawn.

Melbourne Candid Series #1179 Collins Arcade

Inside Collins Arcade they stand,
A small family, hand in hand.
Father points with careful grace,
At a restaurant’s digital face.

Eyes alight with plans to dine,
Together tracing each line.
Warmth of shared, unspoken cheer,
Moments simple, yet sincere.

Melbourne Candid Series #1166 Exhibition St

Off Exhibition, the city’s hum,
Where lights command and footsteps drum.
A man in shades, like silver screen,
Stands with his boy, a tender scene.

They wait for green, the crossing’s call,
The child’s small hand enclosed in all.
Beside them stands, with comic air,
A hat askew, a traveller there.

He tugs his strap, adjusts his load,
A wanderer upon the road.
Two moments caught, yet worlds apart—
The star, the fool, both play their part.
