Under carnival floodlights
a cowboy waits on a patient horse
like he’s buffering for the Wild West.
Dust hangs in the air
with all the drama of a low-budget apocalypse,
while the crowd watches
one man expertly supervise dirt.
The horse, meanwhile,
looks one second away
from asking for overtime pay.

Around the barrel in a blur of grace,
horse and rider wore the same fierce face.
The crowd held breath, the dust took flight,
and gravity lost the argument that night.
Hat tilted low with a gambler’s grin,
she rode that corner razor-thin.
For in the rodeo, so legends claim,
speed is simply courage with a better aim.

He swung the rope with cowboy grace,
while the calf wore panic on its face.
The horse looked on as if to sigh,
“Here we go — another human trying to fly.”
The judges squinted, pens held tight,
pretending chaos could be scored just right.
And under the rodeo’s dusty spell,
even bad decisions photographed well.

Under floodlights pale as ghosts at sea,
the cowboy ran on borrowed bravery.
The bull snorted once, as if to say,
“Nice hat, mate — but you’re in my way.”
Dust rose thick like outlaw smoke,
boots flew faster than the jokes.
And somewhere beyond the roaring din,
common sense refused to join in.

Eight seconds promised,
he aimed for eight grand
but the horse had opinions
and canceled the plan.
Hat still committed,
boots bold to the end,
while gravity whispered,
“Let’s not pretend.”
The crowd held its breath
then laughter broke free:
some rides you conquer…
some ride you, cowboy, with glee.

Oars dip into the crowded water,
a slow pulse through floating lives.
Straw hats catch the hard noon light,
faces steady, practiced, unhurried.
Between wood and current,
the market breathes
voices, weight, and patience
moving forward, one stroke at a time.

Parade in Luoyang
In Luoyang’s heart, where ages sleep,
The cobbled streets their secrets keep;
And through the gate of ancient stone,
The echoes stir, the past is shown.
Men in robes of crimson thread,
With phoenix crowns upon their head,
Move proud beneath the lantern light—
A river flowing, bold and bright.
Their footsteps speak of kings and clay,
Of dynasties long passed away;
Yet here they march, in rhythm deep,
As if the land itself would weep.
Old town awakes in silk and song,
And time itself walks slow, and long.

Not sure what is there to pick up. There are no shells but plenty of rubbish.

This was a stand to commemorate Anzac Day. I do not get what these tags represent. Maybe donations?

I believe this cafe was closed 2 years ago. A bistro with authentic French cooking.
