Brisbane Candid Series #1463 Brisbane CBD

The modern giants pierce the sky,
Where stone and iron strangely blend,
The ancient arches stand close by,
While newer spires still ascend.
A restless tide of passing feet,
Moves through the intersection's maze,
While cranes look down upon the street,
And capture the advancing days.
Though steel and glass reshape the view,
And change the world with heavy hand,
The old lives on within the new,
Upon this shifting, crowded land.

Brisbane Candid Series #1461 Brisbane CBD

Upon the paved and modern street,
Where fleeting shadows cast their stride,
Two rusted forms of iron meet
The rushing town, yet still abide.
With gears for joints and steel for spine,
The scrap-made creatures silently
Recall a wilder, older line
Amidst the cold geometry.
While hurried footsteps pass them by
And towers climb toward the gray,
The metal phantoms softly sigh
For fields of gold and yesterday.

Brisbane Candid Series #1457 Brisbane CBD

Beneath the glass, the city streams,
Where sunlight falls on stone;
Each passerby pursues their dreams,
Yet none of them alone.

The old façades keep watch above,
While strangers pause and meet
A fleeting scene of urban love,
Alive along the street.

Brisbane Candid Series #1442 Brisbane CBD

Along the arcade, the crowds flow by,
Beneath the signs and morning light;
Each hurried face beneath the sky,
A fleeting figure in the bright.

The pavement holds a thousand feet,
Yet none can linger, none can stay;
The city breathes through every street,
And carries all its souls away.

So let them pass, as shadows do,
While sunlight fades from stone to stone;
For every crowd is passing through,
And every heart walks on alone.

Brisbane Candid Series #1441 Brisbane CBD

Beneath the city’s gleaming stone,
The restless multitudes move on;
Each bears a world, yet walks alone,
Beneath the bright and watchful sun.

The towers rise, the shopfronts gleam,
While shadows lengthen at their feet;
And life, as fleeting as a dream,
Flows onward through the crowded street.

No face remains, no footstep stays
The moment fades, the crowds depart;
Yet sunlight keeps their passing days,
Like echoes written on the heart.

Brisbane Candid Series #1440 Brisbane CBD

Beneath the trees, the city flows,
Where hurried feet and bright shops meet;
A quiet wheel moves softly on,
While shadows wander down the street.

The towers rise beyond the leaves,
The noon light falls on stone and glass;
And through the restless tide of life,
Each solitary moment passes.

Yet in this crowded, fleeting scene,
The trees stand calm, serene, and wise
Rooted beneath the passing years,
While human footsteps fade and rise.

Brisbane Candid Series #1431 Brisbane CBD

Beneath the shade of living green,
Where quiet streets and sunlight meet,
The world moves softly, unforeseen,
In footsteps passing down the street.

Above, the old trees touch the sky,
While tables hold the day’s refrain;
And in the pause of passers-by,
Life blooms and fades, then comes again.

The shadows stretch across the stone,
Where passing strangers sit alone.
Beneath the shelter of the tree,
They rest amid the bustling street.
A moment paused, the world moves by,
Underneath a city sky.
Each lost within a quiet thought,
In fleeting light and shadows caught.

Melbourne Candid Series #1425 Collins St

Along the street where footsteps flow,
The years move on in quiet tide;
Each bears a burden none may know,
Yet keeps a little strength and pride.

The city's heart beats swift and loud,
Its countless lives like leaves are blown;
Still every face within the crowd
Walks to a story of its own.

Melbourne Candid Series #1359 Swanston St

Sunlight spilled across Swanston Street,
Where tattoos, tourists, and tramlines meet.
One man crossed with iced coffee care,
Like philosophy lived in humid air.

Behind him marched the midday crowd,
Silent, weary, sunburnt, proud.
The city kept humming its concrete tune
Half jazz concerto, half hot afternoon.

Headphones on, she drifted through heat,
Past tourists, tram stops, and blistered feet.
One girl marched forward, one vanished away,
While Melbourne rehearsed another loud day.

A boy licked ice cream with existential grace,
As strangers performed the ballet of place.
Nobody paused, nobody cared
Yet somehow the whole street quietly stared.

Melbourne Candid Series #1355 Elizabeth St

Café parliament beside the street,
where gossip and hot chips quietly meet.
One scrolls the phone like breaking news,
another debates in expressive views.

The traffic glitters, the city hums,
a cyclist flashes, a tram bell drums.
And every empty woven chair nearby
looks ready to join the argument by and by.

Melbourne Candid Series #1353 Bourke St Mall

Bourke Street flowed in monochrome streams,
Full of errands, coffees, private dreams.
One woman marched like she owned the lane,
While shoppers drifted through summer’s plain.

A man with a beard and thousand-yard stare
Walked as though taxes were everywhere.
Near the shopfront sat quiet defeat,
Ignored by the rhythm of moving feet.

And overhead Melbourne stretched its shade
A city of people, perpetually delayed.

He marched through Bourke Street cool and grim,
As if the whole tram line worked for him.
Earbuds in, moustache precise,
Serving “don’t talk to me” dressed up nice.

Skechers glowing overhead bright,
Tourists drifting left and right,
Yet none could match that sideways stare
Half runway pose, half “meet me there.”

Melbourne’s catwalk, noon parade:
Street photography, lightly caffeinated.

Beneath the signs and city glare,
They shuffle past without a care.
A stroller squeaks, a toddler strays,
While shoppers drift in weekday haze.

“The Beehive” hums above the crowd,
Silent, blinking, strangely proud.
And every face in black and white
Looks halfway home by fading light.

A street parade of thongs and sighs
Melbourne life in candid disguise.

The father snacks mid-city stride,
Crunching chips with guilty pride.
The mother steers through crowded lanes,
Conducting footpath traffic jams.

But there below, in stroller throne,
A tiny king sits all alone
Sipping water, calm and wise,
Judging all with toddler eyes.

Around him Melbourne roars and rolls,
Deadlines, shoppers, coffee goals;
Yet he, with bottle held just right,
Looks like he owns the street outright.

She walked as though the street were hers,
With summer tied in scarves and curves.
He trailed beside, half lost, half wise,
Still reading maps instead of eyes.

The city buzzed with sales and heat,
Neon dripping down the street.
She wore one look that seemed to say:
“I know exactly where we’re going.”

He wore another:
“Hopefully.”

Melbourne Candid Series #1340 Bourke St Mall

Only in the city, the billboard insists
and right on cue, tradition persists:
a Highland tune in a Melbourne street,
where sneakers pass tartan and marching feet.

He stands like a memory slightly misplaced,
feathers and fur in a glass-fronted haste;
the crowd flows by in a modern blur,
but time slows down in the pipes’ soft whirr.

Concrete and culture in quiet collision
heritage busks without supervision;
and somewhere between the old and the new,
the city shrugs: why not? …and walks through.

Melbourne Candid Series #1339 Collins St

Under the sign of the Beehive’s hum,
the city conducts its daily drum
heels click, wheels roll, a pram in tow,
everyone somewhere they must go.

A man strides past with purpose stern,
as if the world might pause his turn;
while children drift in looser schemes,
unbothered architects of dreams.

Between the shops and tiled parade,
a thousand tiny choices made
to look, to rush, to linger, hive
this is how a street stays alive.

A queue leans into lunchtime light,
Phones glow brighter than the sky.
One laughs mid-step, half in a story,
Half in the city rushing by.

A hug pauses traffic more than lights,
A glance negotiates the street
And somewhere between a text and a step,
The ordinary feels complete.
